David Galvez

A native of Lima, Peru, David Galvez has performed solo and chamber recitals throughout the United States, including the Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall in NYC, and South America, including Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Paraguay, and his native Peru. He has also performed as a guest soloist with the Manhattan Philharmonic Orchestra, The National Symphony Orchestra and the Trujillo Orchestra of Peru, Grand Rapids Opera in Michigan. He has performed and recorded duets with the renowned tenor Juan Diego Florez and the Fortworth Symphony Orchestra for the Decca London Music Label. Mr. Galvez is also an accomplished music arranger and some of his works have been published by Lathkill Publication from the United Kingdom. He was the first classical guitarist to win the prestigious Edwin & Leigh Concerto Competition in New York City. He has also received top winner prizes in the Schadt String Competition in Pennsylvania in two consecutive times and also won the National Guitar Competition “Jeunesses Musicales”.

Mr. Galvez studied at the National Conservatory of Lima and went on to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music at the Manhattan (New York) School of Music. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in communication science from the Peru’s Lima University. Mr. Galvez is currently a guitar professor at the Long Island Conservatory in Long Island New York.
