Dera Nevin is a data lawyer with expertise in data protection, privacy and information risk management, cross-border data transfers, and the application of emerging technology such as artificial intelligence, automation, and synthetic data strategies to the delivery of legal advice and legal services.
Known for her early work in eDiscovery, she has pioneered the use of novel forms of digital evidence within litigation and regulatory investigations, often assisting with the design and use of the technology used to acquire, process and present that evidence.
Dera is widely regarded as a visionary and a leader in the field. She has a rare combination of business savvy, technical knowledge and legal skills acquired from both the provider and client perspective that make her an asset to any team and a highly effective negotiator.

Dera is a board member of the Association of eDiscovery Specialists, and is certified with the International Association of Privacy Professionals, holding the CIPP/E, CIPP/US and CIPM designations. She is adjunct faculty in the Global Professional LLM program at the University of Toronto, teaching “Innovation and Legal Infrastructure”.
