Gocha Abuladze
Gocha Abuladze, the accomplished Georgian opera singer, hails from Kutaisi, Georgia, where his lifelong love for music and singing blossomed from an early age. His mother served as his initial music teacher, nurturing his passion.
He embarked on his musical journey by graduating from the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, and later honed his skills in Italy under the tutelage of renowned masters. His dedication to perfecting his singing technique led him to study with luminaries like Montserrat Caballé, Willian Mateuzzi, Lella Cuberli, Vazha Chachava, and Nodar Andguladze.
Abuladze's talent has been widely recognized, with victories in over ten international competitions. Among these accolades, the "Magda Olivero" competition in Milan stands out, as well as the special "Ettore Bastianini" prize for best baritone.
His illustrious career in Europe saw him gracing the stages of esteemed opera theaters, including Arena di Verona, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto, Cagliari Theatre, Grange Park Opera in London, Montpelier Capitol Theatre, Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, and many more. Across these venues, he portrayed 27 leading roles and garnered recognition in European and US press.
Abuladze's collaborations with distinguished artists such as Franco Zeffirelli, Hugo de Ana, Daniel Oren, Andrea Battistoni, Donato Renzetti, Marcus Bosch, Gustav Kuhn, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Michelangelo Mazza, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Leo Nucci, Anita Ratchvelishvili, and others enriched his artistic journey.
In 2014, he earned the title of the best singer of the season in Germany. Notably, his collaboration with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra produced his debut CD, "Un giorno di regno" by Giuseppe Verdi, which was broadcast live on Germany's Central Radio station and remains available in music shops throughout Europe.
Abuladze made a triumphant American debut with Carnegie Hall in New York in 2019. During the pandemic, he embarked on tours in Italy and Georgia. Additionally, he released a significant CD titled "Abuli," featuring Georgian romances in collaboration with Bravo Records.
In 2022, Gocha Abuladze relocated to the United States. His noteworthy benefit concert at Carnegie Hall on May 18, 2022, held on the Weill Recital Hall stage, aimed to support displaced Ukrainian women and children. This event was followed by a series of concerts throughout 2022.
His creative pursuits extend beyond singing, as he composes songs and continues to work on various compositions. Gocha Abuladze's musical journey is a testament to his dedication, talent, and commitment to both his art and humanitarian causes.
